In 2002, the Chicago Brass Band launched operations sporting a logo
designed to reinforce its identity: “Chicago” was represented by the outlines
of skyscrapers nestled among valves, while “Brass” was conveyed with a
bold gold-on-black color scheme.
In 2011, the band updated its logo. Inspired by the original logo,
the valves-as-skyscrapers theme was expanded with the introduction
of iconic Chicago buildings. “Chicago” imagery was further reinforced in
typography, the incorporation of the Chicago “municipal device,”
and other flourishes.
