JOSH WIRT
Eb Bass

Instrument:
York EEb

Mouthpiece:
Kanstul Pearson-Geib (custom)

Music Heroes:
Roger Bobo, Floyd Cooley, Warren Deck, and Gene Pokorny are the tubists I most listened to while growing up. The Chicago Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, NY Philharmonic and older LA Philharmonic were also the orchestra sounds that most influenced me in my earlier years...and still to this day!
Josh recently earned a Master's Degree in Tuba Performance at DePaul University. Previously, Josh earned a PGDip (HONS) from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK after receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Tuba Performance from Virginia Tech.

During his time in the UK, Josh performed around England and Austria as a regular member of the Fairey Band (formerly the Williams Fairey Brass Band) as well as the North Cheshire Concert Band under Dr. Timothy Reynish.

After returning from the UK, Josh spent four years working in instructional technology at Virginia Tech as well as maintaining an active freelance and teaching career in Southwest and Central Virginia. Josh has held acting principal tuba positions with the Roanoke Symphony and Opera Roanoke as well as extensive chamber work with the Roanoke Chamber Brass.

Currently, Josh is the tubist with DePaul's graduate brass quintet (Belden Brass) as well as an associate member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Josh is also an active freelance musician and private teacher in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
