Growing up as an Army Brat, David Nakazono pulls from his international experiences to bring a unique voice and perspective to his music. While earning his B.M. in Trumpet Performance at the University of California—Santa Barbara, David gained experience in orchestral, band, jazz, chamber, and contemporary music. While at UCSB, he recorded for UCSB Amplified and founded the Pops Orchestra at UCSB. He has performed with ensembles including the Young Musician’s Foundation Debut Chamber Orchestra, the Santa Monica Symphony, and the Now Hear Ensemble; and with renowned musicians such as Arturo Sandoval and Joseph Alessi.

David was recently appointed a solo cornet position with the Chicago Brass Band. David attributes his success and growth as a musician to his trumpet teachers, which include: Neal Berntsen, Mark Ridenour, Grant Hungerford, Malcolm, McNab, Jon Lewis, Kenneth Capshaw, Friedhelm Biessecker, Jason Ortiz, and supporting parents who kickstarted his musical education. David is currently pursuing a Master's of Music in Orchestral Studies at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, where he studies with Neal Berntsen and Mark Ridenour.
