Andrew Hunter grew up in Charleston, Illinois, and attended Western Illinois University where he graduated Magna cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education. While at Western, Andrew performed as principal trumpet in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra and XTREME Brass Quintet. He also performed with the Jazz Studio Orchestra and the Marching Leathernecks.

Andrew is currently the band director at Wauconda Middle School, where he teaches sixth through eighth grade band. He has served an adjudicator for area high schools, IMEA Solo & Ensemble, as well as the IMEA All-State Festival every January in Peoria.

In addition to the Chicago Brass Band, Andrew serves as piccolo trumpet/lead trumpet in the Chicago Brass Band Players and the CBB Quintet. He also performs regularly with the Palatine Concert Band, and has performed in the past with the Naperville Municipal Band, Macomb Municipal Band, Knox-Galesburg Orchestra, Midwest Philharmonic Orchestra, Lakeshore Symphony, College of Lake County Wind Ensemble, Big Top Circus Band of Lake County, and the Chicago Gargoyle Brass Quintet.

Andrew has studied conducting with Dr. Jon Dugle and Mr. Michael Fansler, and trumpet with Dr. W. Parker Melvin Jr., Dr. Luis Loubriel and Dr. Bruce Briney. He is a member of IMEA, MENC and the Phi Kappa Phi honors society.
