When his beginner band in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, ran out of saxophones, Adam's band director persuaded him to take up the tuba instead. Everything seems to have worked out for the best. Adam is currently the Principal Tuba of the Boise Philharmonic and the Lancaster (OH) Festival Orchestra, and has previously held this position with the Honolulu and La Crosse (WI) Symphony Orchestras. He also teaches at the University of Nevada, Reno, and Boise State University.

A lover of chamber music, Adam has performed with a variety of brass quintets, toured Japan with the HATHM Trio, and plays regularly with his wife, hornist DeAunn Davis. He has also performed tuba concertos with the University of Utah Wind Ensemble and the Western Michigan University Symphony Orchestra. Adam also enjoys working with up and coming composers to expand the tuba repertoire, and currently directs UNR's Contemporary Music Ensemble.

When away from his instrument, Adam prefers to spend his time listening to music, hiking with his wife and their dog, Gizmo, and homebrewing beer.
